Do you want to try a new high-quality free and open source game? Veloren is an RPG for multiplayer that is inspired by games such as Cube World, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Dwarf Fortress, and Minecraft. Developed in the fancy Rust programming language, Veloren has grown massively in the last year and is gradually evolving into what could become the next truly big FOSS game.
Some of the new features in this release are:
Climbing Speed and Cost New Skills Pickaxes can be utilized to gather gems or mine weak rock. jumping out of rolls can give you a slight boost. - Dungeons now have a variety of stairs. Trades now display the price of items in tooltips. Attacks are now accompanied by sound effects when they strike the target. - Crafting menu tabs - Auto camera setting which makes it more enjoyable with just one hand - Topographic map option - Search bars for social and crafting window - Villagers and guards now spawn using potions and know how to make use of them. Combat music is played when enemies are within range. - One handed weapons can now be used and found in the world - Players can now opt-in to server-authoritiative physics in gameplay settings. - You can sort your inventory using the button. Minecraftservers.fun Crafting stations are now accessible in towns. - Any not translated content can be displayed in English. - Large birds npcs now available - You can now block with melee weapons, and parry with a melee weapon - Glider lift is calculated based on the dimension (currently the same for all)- Towns can now only play specific music tracks. Custom map markers can be put up now - Mountain lake and peak markers can be placed on the map - Minimap mode added to visualizes terrain within the boundaries of a chunk. Chat tabs - NPCs can now hear certain sounds
This is a small portion of the full and quite long changelog for the 0.10.0 release.
Download from the Veloren website. There are many ways to download it from a direct-download with a launcher that keeps it current, Flatpak, Snap and more. It's available for download now by going to the official server. It's free and small so it won't take any space.
