Minecraft film'set to hit silver screen'

The block-building game Minecraft is extremely popular, could soon be turned into a film.
Markus Persson, Minecraft creator told this week that Warner Brothers was in conversation with him regarding the Minecraft project.
Persson claimed that he disclosed the information to stop another trying to leak information about it.
Movie news site Deadline revealed that one of the producers for the Lego Movie is in charge of the project.
Warner was planning to turn the "live action" version of the game into a feature film according to Deadline.
The film is still in its infancy, as Warner has just purchased the rights for Minecraft's iconic characters monsters, blocks, and blocks.
The news comes just two weeks after Minecraft creator Mojang took action to shut down the Kickstarter project that sought to raise money for a film based on the game.
Film adaptations of top-selling games have had a rough track record in Hollywood and many projects never make it past the initial planning stage.
For instance, a film set in the science-fictional Halo universe has been in development for the past nine years, but filming has not yet to begin despite multiple scripts being written.
Similar films based on Bioshock or Gears of War have been discussed but no film has yet started shooting.
One game that is definitely being made into a film is World of Warcraft, filming began in late January with British director Duncan Jones in charge. The film will be released in early 2016.
