These Minecraft Ancient City Redesigns Are Gloriously Green

Minecraft builders are renovating the 1.19 update's cities from the past as if they never were ruined.

As if the dark and gloomy was not enough, intrepid builders are tearing off entire revamps of Minecraft 1.19's huge new ancient cities. There is a little small building happening in between other projects.

The massive, crumbling structures deep underground are quite creepy. They have ruined pillars that dot the darkness, covered with sculk blocks and shriekers which summon the warden to call you if you do not cross their territory.

Perhaps the wardens are just angry because their homes are in disrepair. Luckily, these builders are working to bring the ancient cities back to their former splendor. A lot of these cities have been completely remodeled with lush cave greenery to show that they were once real cities. Some add lore of their own and brighten the darkness with a plethora of bright blocks. At least one decided to keep the spooky vibe. Perhaps the ancient cities were always dangerous. The most daring builders have constructed their buildings in rigid mode, not in a creative way. I won't be caught doing that.

A majority of these builds receive help for their vibrant auras from the best Minecraft shaders and Minecraft texture packs. I've gathered some of the most amazing old city designs and city structures out there right now with a link to the builder who created the designs. As always, this is the latest in amazing Minecrafting. We've also collected some really impressive desert temples redesigns underwater bases, as well as many more of the top Minecraft designs.

This restored ancient city by Unsorted Guy brings back the dark, deep time before it was overrun by sculk and wardens. Unsorted Guy shows how he started by replacing all the sculk within the city with deepslate blocks. He also converted the ceilings into stalactites, and brought tons and tons of vines from the caves that were lush. MINECRAFT SERVERS In addition to restoring all the structures, Unsorted Guy relocates some grass blocks and excavates an aquisition, and even constructs his own version of an old city farm. The place was at one time alive. The final build has a mountain-city feel because of all the water.

This Andyisyoda reimagined city is giving me huge Atlantis impressions. Again, there's lots of greenery added to the scene. It's hard to believe that these underground cities were ever dull and gray.

In the build timelapse video embedded above, you can watch Andyisyoda constructing high-fantasy bridges across a layer of water and dripping with vines. They kept some of the spookiness alive by using the lava moat that runs around the giant portal. They have an entire sunken city with towers, and massive draping greenery.

As if designing an entire city from scratch wasn't difficult enough, Fixxitt412 has managed it in complete survival mode, which means no life after death over 100 days. The construction of Fixxitt is also green , with manicured areas dotted with flowers and farms. However, they haven’t eliminated all the sculk completely, which feels good.

The building has a mystical feel to it, with lots and lots of lights and stained-glass emanating from the copper conduits that are at the top of the central portal. There are even homes for the villagers to live in the deep darkness. I'm wondering how long they'll last.

Another lush subterranean city was built by RandomGgames (opens in new tab) and OceanManRulesZaWardo. This one is more overgrown and could be as abandoned as the other ancient cities. It uses tons of vines, leaves, and traditional glowstone blocks illuminate it, similar to other gorgeous green structures. The two seem to have removed all sculk in the area and replaced it with wooden walkways, arches of deep slate, and other landscaping elements.

This "build" is actually just two images (opens new tab) however it's a pretty good image and I couldn't resist including it for the other inspiration-seekers in this room.

This is the complete opposite of all the tranquil, green recreations Seggie has created of the ancient city. If Seggie ever did a full-on investigation of this I'm sure it would look like an even more frightening place than Nether's fortress. The skull archway and the blue flames look foreboding.

Okay it's not an actual Minecraft build in the slightest. This Lego set is based on Veyniac540's ancient cities (opens in a new tab). But come on, that's seriously neat. If you're interested in building it yourself, they have the instructions and parts list (opens new tab). You know, after you get done building things inside Minecraft.
