You might be interested in knowing more about the differences between THC (THC) and hexahydrocannabinol. This article will highlight the similarities and differences of these chemicals as well as their effects on the body. It will also address their legal status. You can select your preferred strain from the list below to learn more. You can also refer to our guide on hemp extract.
Hexahydrocannabinol
Hexahydrocannabinol (or HHC) is a derivative of the cannabinoid tetrahydrocannabinol. HHC is similar to THC however it has significantly less power. Scientists are yet to determine the exact potency, but they believe that it is between Delta-9 and Delta-8. Scientists continue to study the effects of HHC. They have discovered that it has high bioavailability which means it is easily absorb by the body.
While THC is readily available, HHC is still a relatively new cannabinoid. While THC has been around for years, HHC is only now becoming an item that consumers can purchase. It's not known if HHC is legal prior to that. Although it's been approved to use for medical purposes in some states, there's currently no regulatory body that regulates it. There are however thc oil for pain of online vendors selling this cannabinoid.
The structure of active compounds is the reason for the difference between HHC and delta-9-THC. HHC has five carbons, while THC is made up of one carbon and two hydrogens. The HHC diastereomers, THCP or DHCE, are commonly referred to as THCP or DHCE. They share the same structure and potencies, but they differ in their psychoactive agents.
In terms of the medicinal use of cannabis is in question, there's a debate over which one is more efficient. Delta-8 THC is a synthetic variant of the cannabinoid, and it gives you a relaxing high, while delta-10 THC gives an uplifting experience. While HHC is more powerful than delta-8, there isn't enough evidence to show an exact distinction in safety or efficacy.
Compared to THC
The effects of cannabis are usually characterised by high levels THC. Its primary function is to cause an intoxicating high within the body. It is similar to the effects that are naturally produced by the body's "bliss molecule" Anandamide. Both types of cannabinoids influence areas of the brain involved with the pleasure of cognition, pleasure, coordination and sensory perception. THC has become the most well-known and recognized cannabinoid. It is responsible for the stereotypical highdeas that are associated when you're "stoned"--giggling, bumbling, and absurd highdeas, as well as heightened appetite.
Scientists have identified more than 100 cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis plant. Although most of them have the same effect profile - altered sensory perception - the distinctions between them are in their potency, headspace, and other qualities. THCP, the strongest naturally found cannabinoid is 1.5 times more potent than THC-O. It is also 10-20x more potent than delta 9 THC, and 40x more potent than THC.
This dataset is significant because it has a higher concentration of D8-THC (than THC) in the sample. These two metabolites also contribute to the intoxicating effects of cannabis. The human body also has high levels of THC and other metabolites, such as CBGA, CBCA, and CBDA. They are distinct from one another, and they have a significant effect on the body.
THC/CBD was more powerful than THC, despite the fact that THC alone was more effective in enhancing spatial learning in older mice. The study demonstrated that the effects of THC/CBD were stronger when combined in the ratio 1:1. These results could have been due to the early analysis. While there isn't a consensus regarding their potency, the study does indicate that they are stronger than THC.
Effects on the body
Both HHC and THC have similar effects on the human body and their users describe them as relaxing and stimulating. It isn't clear what the effects of these cannabinoids are and the full extent of their effects are still a mystery. The effects of THC and HHC depend on their receptors, neurochemical balance and binding affinity. HHC is generally more powerful than THC and produces a calming effect, whereas THC has an intoxicating effect.
The two most well-known cannabinoid components in marijuana are THC and HHC. Both of them can have different effects on the body, and their exact chemical makeup is unknown. While THC is more likely to trigger an intoxicating effect, HHC may have a lower euphoric impact. Researchers are still trying to determine which one is more potent and are trying to discover more about the effects of each.
The most notable difference between THC and HHC lies in their carbon chains. HHC has double bonds, however THC doesn't. Hydrogenation of THC produces HHC as a byproduct, whereas the byproduct CBN has extra double bonds. However, these two cannabinoids differ in how they bind to receptors. Both are psychoactive, but HHC is more stable and resistant to heat.
While THC and HHC are not entirely opposite in their effects on the body, HHC is considered less psychoactive than THC. They are also similar in their effects on appetite. While THC is the more popular and well-studied compound, HHC is less common but has lower potency than THC. People who are extremely sensitive might notice a difference in the effects of both compounds.
Legality
Some states have not legalized the use of both THC and HHC, while others have stated that these substances aren't a threat to public health. For example the state of Mississippi, for example, does not ban all forms of cannabis, which includes hemp, which contains less than 0.3% THC. Missouri however, has a ban on hemp products with more than 0.3 percent THC. However it does not explicitly mention HHC. Although it is possible that these two compounds are not legally sold in Montana however, there are talks to increase the federal THC limit to one percent.
Although the federal government doesn't prohibit hemp-derived THC from being used, a number of states do. Hemp-derived THC is legal in Massachusetts and Maryland, and is likely to remain legal in the upcoming years as hemp becomes more legal in states. Similar to South Dakota, hemp-derived HHC is not illegal. Texas is on the cusp of banning delta-8 THC however, it was put on hold by a law passed in 2020.
HHC is prohibited in Vermont and Hawaii when it exceeds 0.3 percent. This is not the case for modified iomers such as Delta-8. It is legal to consume hemp-derived products with less than 0.3 percent THC. This includes CBD derived from hemp oil. In Illinois it is illegal to make THC from hemp and then sell it for sale. In West Virginia and Illinois, however hemp-derived CBD oil are legal.
The legality of hemp-derived CBD is not clear in California, but HHC is legal in the state. However the state of Colorado bans Delta-8 and Delta-10 THC, but it permits the standard Delta-9 THC. The state of Connecticut also permits the sale of all cannabis extracts, even HHC. Delaware, however, bans all THC products.
Side effects
While the benefits of THC are well documented however, researchers are not so sure about the possible side effects of HHC. These compounds are very similar however they have distinct chemical structures and binding affinity for CB receptors. Both cannabinoids have a variety of benefits, but both are known for their pain-relieving and inflammation-fighting properties. Despite their similarity, HHC and THC have distinct legal statuses, which could affect how they interact with humans.
Although the chemical structure of the two compounds is identical, HHC is significantly more robust and resistant to oxidation and degradation. This means that HHC does not lose its potency as quickly as THC. Both compounds create an euphoric state. However, HHC is stronger and doesn't lose its effects when exposed to air or sunlight. Though HHC is not nearly as psychoactive as THC, it is believed to be a safer choice because of its less harmful negative effects.
HHC has been shown to be just as effective as morphine analgesics in mice. This suggests that HHC and THC could have similar properties when used to treat pain caused by narcotics. Furthermore, both substances are effective in combating nausea and vomiting. While HHC is not as powerful than THC, HHC may reduce nausea and increase appetite. In addition there are some HHC users report feeling less anxious than those who use THC, according to research published in the journal Neuroscience.
THC can be metabolized to 11-hydroxy-THC. This is reflected in drug tests. This can result in false positive results for HHC. However, some HHC compounds can be metabolized into THC-COOH, and could not be detected in tests for drugs. Both compounds are psychoactive and can negatively impact your health and capacity to make informed decisions.
