Seven Spectacular Minecraft Creations

Seven spectacular Minecraft creations by Joe Miller Technology reporter

Many of us will remember being first introduced to Minecraft by Microsoft when it announced it would pay $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) for the company behind the most popular video game.

For many years, a dedicated community has been working on intricate cyberspace wonders in Minecraft for many years.

Here are seven of the best:

Game of Thrones

Mapmakers WesterosCraft is on a mission to recreate the world George RR Martin created in the Game of Thrones books. Minecraft Servers The goal is to create an opportunity for roleplaying within the fantasy world.

A working 16-bit computer

In just two weeks a Minecraft gamer named ohmganesha created the first 16-bit computer. The virtual machine comes with 32 bytes of RAM (random-access memory) and an ROM of 256 bytes (read-only memory).

This Cathedral

Patrix, the edifice's architect said that it took him only two nights to build. He also said that he'd never been to a cathedral before in his life.

A hard drive that is functional

Cody Littley's hard drive can store one kilobyte data. It may seem like a small amount when compared to ordinary discs. However it's not when you take into account that Mr Littley is a Texas computer science PhD student, constructed it piece-by-piece.

An entire city

The Aurora City Project artists admit that the project may never be completed. However, the detailed cityscapes prove why. Here are several images.

All of Denmark

To aid children in learning, the Danish government set out to map the entire country on Minecraft. The project was later smashed up and a portion of the landscape were blown up by virtual "dynamite".

A playable guitar

Disco, the creator of Minecraft's cyber-guitar can play 10 open chords of basic quality. A demo can be viewed here.
