The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first bicycle tunnel, was opened as part of Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle path surrounds Jerusalem.

The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance is found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

The opening ceremony of the tunnel, which is 2.1 kilometers long took place in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) along with hundreds of cyclists.

"In the past, Jerusalem was an attractive city for tourists because of its rich history. The project was funded by the Elkin's department as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included the budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The project was done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

The current projects include road construction, installation blowers, and advanced safety systems to ensure that the tunnel is safe for all to use all year.
