The interest and activity in computing education for children continues to grow. Meanwhile, Minecraft has become a massive cultural phenomenon as an engaging, fun platform that encourages exploration and play. This talk will demonstrate how Python can be used to teach programming while exploring the world of Minecraft. We will talk about how to create learning environments, curricula, and case studies. Interest in the field of computing education for children is increasing on all fronts, including government-sponsored initiatives and our own Python community. Finding age-appropriate resources and environments that are educational and stimulating is always a issue, especially for the younger generation of coders. However, Minecraft has become a huge cultural phenomenon that has captured the imaginations and hearts of our young people. Millions of hours have been spent in Minecraft, shaping and crafting worlds and capturing the imaginations of its players. Minecraft Server List It stands out as an enjoyable, stimulating platform that encourages exploration and play. This talk will focus on the role played by games in education, the basics of motivation, and how it relates with teaching programming. What is the best way to help Minecraft and its virtual world help solve these problems? We will explore the different methods and tools that can be used to facilitate Python-based interactions with the Minecraft world. The available Python APIs for Minecraft will be covered as well as examples of curriculum and projects. The tools and the environments discussed will be able to meet the requirements of Minecraft on both PC and iMac versions. Minecraft and Minecraft PI We will cover how to create appropriate learning environments for your own use. Learn about the successes and mistakes of other communities. Outcome: Parents and educators will leave with an understanding of Minecraft, its capabilities, and its value in education. They will also learn to teach Python programming through play within the Minecraft world. Participants will receive references to materials that can teach Python, as well as the steps needed to create learning environments.
