Minecraft film'set to hit silver screen'

The hugely popular block-building game Minecraft could soon be made into a film.
Minecraft creator Markus Persson revealed this week that the game's creator was in conversation with Warner Brothers about the project.
Mr. Persson said he revealed the news to thwart an individual who was trying to leaked information about the deal.
Movie news site Deadline said that one of the producers for the Lego Movie is in charge of the project.

Warner was planning to turn the "live action" version of the game into a feature film the company told Deadline.
The film's development is at an infancy stage since Warner has only recently acquired the rights to use Minecraft's iconic blocks, characters and monsters.
The announcement is less than two weeks after Minecraft creator Mojang has taken action to stop a Kickstarter project seeking to raise funds for a film based off the game.
Hollywood has a long history of remaking popular games for film. Many projects do not get to the production stage.
For instance, a movie set in the science-fictional Halo universe has been in development for nine years, yet filming hasn't yet to begin despite numerous scripts being written.
Similar films inspired by Bioshock, Gears of War and Metal Gear Solid Work have been discussed, but none of them has yet started filming.
World of Warcraft is a game that is being developed into a film. Filming began in January with Duncan Jones, a British director. The film is expected to be released in early 2016.
