Neve Paritzki (נווה פריצקי)Jerusalem is the site of the world's first bicycle tunnel in Israel.

נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's newest bicycle tunnel, has been inaugurated as part of an extensive cycle path that circles the capital.

The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban, and the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about one kilometer away from the Kerem junction.

The tunnel's official opening ceremony, which is 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) as well as a plethora of cyclists.

I would like to invite cyclists everywhere to come and take a ride along the new, well-maintained and modern route that takes in the view of Old Jerusalem.

Elkin's Ministerial, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 to the project. The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin said the fact that "The Kerem Tunnel Project is a central tool to realize the dream to transform the concept of transportation throughout Jerusalem." "The tunnel, which connects with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing cycle paths in the city as well as the ones that will be paved within its diverse areas. It is designed to encourage bicycle riding among its residents, and also to encourage an environmentally sustainable transportation system in Jerusalem."

The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the late 90s to relocate an important sewer line for the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is currently used as an infrastructure Tunnel which includes the fifth waterline that runs to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.

The current works include road construction, installation of blowers and advanced safety and electrical systems to make the tunnel safe for pedestrians to travel through all year round.

There is also the Kerem Tunnel to enjoy unique recreation spots, including Ein Kerem, the Biblical aquarium, zoo and Ein Kerem neighborhood.
