NEW YORK - September 8 2022new record-breaking tourist arrivals from the United States were announced today by the Israel Ministry of Tourism. 78,000 visitors from the United States visited Israel in July 2022. This is a four percent increase over the year before and 71,000 visitors from the United States in august 2022. This is 13% more than 2019.
Eyal Carlin from North America was the Tourism Commissioner. "The United States is the most popular destination for Israel inbound tourism. In fact, before the COVID-19 pandemic, we were celebrating record breaking numbers of tourism entry each month. It's a fantastic positive shift that we are happy to see and we expect an upward trend for years to come."
Canada, not too far behind the United States of America, is on track for surpassing the tourist numbers to Israel. The country had 7,200 visitors in the month of July 2022, and 6,000 visitors in visitors in August.
Gal Hana, Consul to Canada and Director for Canada at the Israel Ministry of Tourism said that it was exciting to see tourism from Canada to Israel rebounding. We are getting close to our record-setting numbers for the year 2019, and we are anticipating that this growth in travel to Israel will continue as Canadians feel more at home when they travel abroad.
Israel received more tourists from around the world in the year 2019 than any other country. 969 600 were American. Israel's official reopening to all tourists was in May of 2018. The country has been home to more than 600,400 US tourists since the time of opening.
