Children to design a new national park in Minecraft
Adelaide schoolchildren were invited to design a Minecraft national park that could be built in real life.
Students aged between nine and twelve were asked to create their own 3D models within the world.
These results could be used to upgrade existing national parks in Adelaide.
The government has set aside nearly $10.4m Australian dollars (PS5.4m) to fund the revamps.
It was eager to find a fresh way to involve young people in its activities.
"This competition is part of a project to engage the community asking people of all ages to suggest what kind of facilities would inspire them to spend more time in national parks," reads the Natural Resources, Adelaide website that announced the prize.
"The State government has set aside $10.4m for parks projects This means that some of the ideas you and your class comes up with could be used."
The only rule is that "whatever you design must be able to be constructed in the real world" the report added.
"The park features must complement the natural surroundings and take into account the species of animals and plants that live there."
Ideas could include trails for bushwalking, mountain biking or horse riding, barbecues and picnic areas - or something completely different." it suggested.
Redesigning the slums
There is a trend towards creating ever more exciting designs in Minecraft.
The Danish government has been able to map the entire country the game, as part of a project to educate.
In 2012, Mojang is the company that developed Minecraft, teamed up with the UN to assist them in designing city spaces in developing countries.
They built public spaces and shared them with community groups. The participants could then redesign the spaces.
The project has inspired new ideas for green areas in Kiberia (the largest slum in Nairobi) and was used to design a brand new waterfront in Les Cayes, Haiti's largest city.

The Adelaide competition will close on June 12th The winner will be announced one month later.
