How can you acquire a pair of Minecraft capes You might ask? You may have heard rumours of the mythical piece of cloth that adorns the shoulders of the most elite Minecraft players. The legends speak of myriad Minecraft capes that were given to the fortunate few over the years. The latest news (sigh) is that capes alter the appearance of Minecraft Elytra, the magical wings that are found on end ships, as they share the same space on the player's back. Naturally, Minecraft capes are extremely sought-after, but they haven't been easily obtained.



Those who ventured to any Minecon event prior to Minecon Earth 2017 each received Minecraft capes. Each year, they received a new colour and design. More rare are the personal caps that were given to lucky individuals in recognition of their accomplishments, like Reddit user u/billyk_, who was given a personal turtle cape for recommending that Mojang should add turtles to Minecraft.



If you're not able to think of a solution similar to turtles (unlikely) or can time travel back to the days of Minecon, it looks like you're not going to obtain any of these Minecraft capes in the Java version. They are more popular in the Bedrock version due to the several skin packs to choose from the Marketplace. If you'd like them for free, you can try on a cape with the assistance of Minecraft mods, though it'll only be visible to you. Get a Minecraft cape by transferring your account to Minecraft.

How do I activate Minecraft capes



If you have an official Minecraft cape, you can equip them prior to starting an online game. Your capes Bedrock caps are only available for this version. The same is true for any capes you earn in the Minecraft Java version.



For the Bedrock version open the app and click the button to enter the Dressing Room from the main menu. Next, click the tab to the left with a red cape and the Mojang logo. This will show all the available capes. Select one to equip.



For the Java version, you'll must open the Launcher and then click Minecraft: Java Edition on the left-hand side of the screen. There are a variety of options which include Skins. Click this option to bring up all your current skins. You can edit an existing skin or design a new one from this page. You can view all of your officially-available caps by clicking on the option to choose Skin File.

Mods like the Advanced Capes Mod make it possible to obtain the most sought-after capes in the game or any cape you can think of.



There's a caveat to this: other players you meet on multiplayer Minecraft servers won't be able to see your cape unless they also have the same mods installed. Waiting for official Mojang capes to be given to you when your account is transferred is the best way to ensure everyone is able to see your capes.
