Tens of thousands NBN customers experiencing slow connection speeds are advised to contact their telco company, because they could be eligible to receive a refund.
After internet providers made misleading or false claims about speeds and speeds, the ACCC announced Wednesday that NBN customers could be eligible for a refund.
Telstra, Optus and Commander all admitted to selling NBN plans that were impossible to purchase through sales and marketing.
Tens of thousands of NBN customers experiencing slow connections have been advised to contact their telco provider as they may be eligible to receive a refund
Due to the limitations of FTTN and FTTB technologies, users could never get the advertised download speeds of up to 100 megabits per second.
The consumer watchdog claimed they had been negotiating with telcos over the last 15 months , and signed agreements with each company that they would contact customers.
RSPS
Mick Keogh, ACCC Acting Chair, said that two-thirds (65%) of affected consumers have not responded to letters or emails sent by their internet service provider.

Mr Keogh explained that the victims could be eligible for refunds, with some as high as hundreds of dollars.
'The ACCC is insisting NBN customers to contact their NBN retailer if they have received an email or letter offer of a remedy, or believe they may be entitled to an answer.'
The watchdog stated that customers who signed for the new NBN plan recently may be eligible to receive an amount of money back if the company stated that the maximum speed of connection was.
Telstra, Optus, TPG, iiNet, Internode, Dodo, iPrimus and Commander have all admitted to selling NBN plans that offer unattainable speeds
Within four weeks, the telco should examine their speed. If they are less than the advertised speeds for the plan the customer has selected, they should provide alternative plans.
According to the ACCC, the amount of any refund will be contingent on the amount paid for the highest download speed and the cost of the plan that actually provides it.
If you pay $100 per month for a 100 Mbps maximum download speed, but get only 37 Mbps, while the $70 monthly plan offers 50Mbps, the refund is $30 for each month already paid.
Mr Keogh said telcos are expected to provide customers with accurate information up front about the internet speeds they can expect to experience, and then provide the speed they expect.
'Our message to RSPs (telcos) is that when you advertise a certain connection speed but customers don't enjoy this speed, you are violating the Australian Consumer Law,' the official said.
