The Queue: but there are Cats in Azeroth

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team is there to answer your questions about World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.

I am sorry for Alex and his partner. They couldn't keep pets in their apartment, so they bought a Roomba. Now I can have pets at my house, and my girlfriend and I have a nice kitten named Max. In fact, Max was talking to me last night as I was writing today's Queue. He said he'd love to eat Alex's Roomba.

He began talking after I gave him some Papa Hummel's Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuits.

Actuality asked...

"I was curious about how the Argent Tournament would work with Icecrown phasing. Is the Tournament open to all or just those who have reached the final Icecrown?

The Argent Tournament is not tied to any Icecrown quest lines or phasing currently at this time. Could it happen in the future? Who knows.
All about private wow servers

Asymmetry that isn't perfect...

"If the negotiations between The9 fail and China loses WoW, will we have a better chance of getting Pandarens?"

Doubtful. It's possible that another company will create an Chinese version of WoW. Beyond that, the folks at Blizzard strive to be very respectful of different cultures and traditions. While there are some subtle jokes and innuendos that are scattered throughout the game that are intentionally offensive, there aren't any major roles in the game that are overtly offensive to any particular group. It's possible to debate this, but it's not the issue. The point is that you shouldn't be looking for Pandarens.

Scratched and asked...

"What is the rationale behind Blizzard placing multiple features into one patch rather than making each available in a separate patch when it's ready to go?"

It's an enormous deal to release a patch. The distribution of the patch isn't only the programming of the server and client-side software. These tasks in the end cost lots of money. Both in man hours spent working on them, and in the bandwidth required by millions of users to download content. Reduce that as much as possible, which includes not making a patch available every week, is a very clever idea.

Brouck asked...

"I'm getting an entirely new computer later this week and I'd really like to not have to go through the entire installation process of Vanilla WoW, BC and Wrath all over again before I can play with it. Is there an option to transfer the files from my old computer to the new one?

Yes!

You'll need to copy the old World of Warcraft directory to your new computer. It's not necessary to reinstall the entire game. I last installed WoW from scratch more than two years ago, and I've gone through several computers since then.

If you'd like to transfer the directory as fast and easily as possible then you can buy an external USB drive (or a very large USB stick) at Best Buy or another place. This external hard drive that I discovered on New Egg, should work well. (Side note If you or someone else is responsible for causing a problem on your computer, we need to notify you. It's amazing how easy to blame other people. There are many other options, and I'm sure that some commenters will contribute their two to twenty cents. These items are often offered for sale, so be sure you look for bargains. Do you have questions about World of Warcraft? The WoW Insider crew will be there with The Queue, our daily Q&A column. We're ready to answer your questions!
