Minecraft has been updated to pay tribute to the streamer Technoblade, whose death from cancer was announced by his family last week. The splash image for Minecraft in the game's launcher now has an ox sporting a golden crown, a reference to Technoblade's Minecraft character and a royal pig-man sporting a bejeweled crown.
The Minecraft team tweeted on Friday that they were "heartbroken over the loss of Technoblade," writing that he "brought so much joy" to the game's community.
We've been trying to find the right words but we all here at Minecraft are heartbroken over the loss of Technoblade. He meant so much to our community and brought us so much joy. We will miss him deeply.
Technoblade was a renowned Minecraft streamer with more than 13 million subscribers on YouTube. He was also a part of the hit server Dream SMP. Technoblade's father posted a message from Technoblade and discussed the process of making the final video, in the midst of Technoblade was fighting cancer. At the time of writing the video has more than 54 million views.

Technoblade has been the subject of many tributes from streamers and other members of the Minecraft creator community. In the days since the event, many fan art pieces have been shared on Twitter in commemoration, too.
Although the Minecraft team hasn't yet acknowledged the splash screen update, it clearly made this small change as a tribute. While the original launcher image still has the same pig in the same location, it does not have Technoblade's trademark crown.
