Minecraft Says it doesn't Want anything to have to do with Blockchain, NFTs, or NFTs.

While some industries are weighing in on NFTs, the videogame community is making it clear that NFTs represent "No F'n Thanks" in their field.



The latest company to take a stand against non-fungible tokens is Mojang Studios, the developer of the massively popular video game, Minecraft.



In a statement released today on the official Minecraft website, which is titled "Minecraft and NFTs," the company clarified that it would not permit any sort of blockchain or NFT integration into the game.



Mojang Studios and Minecraft laid out a number of reasons for being opposed to NFTs. They also stated that fake shortage plays an important role in the process. NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are basically digital assets that are stored on blockchain. To identify ownership of a piece of NFTs, a unique token is created and then linked to an image file.



The statement explains that Minecraft is not against monetizing, and uses the example of users paying for access to a Minecraft server as an approved use case. However, since NFTs could change the gameplay dynamics and give players with monetary advantages in games The Minecraft developer is opposed to the technology.



"To ensure that Minecraft players enjoy a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technologies are not allowed to be used inside our Minecraft client and server applications. Nor can be used to create NFTs associated with any in-game content, including skins, worlds, items, or any other mods," declares the statement.



The developer also raised concerns about the trustworthiness of third-party firms that mint Minecraft-related NFTs, and their tendency to drop projects and then fraudulently increase prices on NFT aftermarkets.

Minecraft's Mojang Studios is far from the first video game company to run completely free of NFTs. Gamers have made it clear that they hate the idea of buying NFTs in addition to the games they already purchase. Their skepticism about NFTs has forced the industry to follow suit. In the last month, Sony announced a loyalty program called Playstation Stars which will reward players with digital collectibles. Sony stated that these digital collectibles were not NFTs.



"It's certainly not NFTs. Definitely not. You cannot trade them or sell them. It is not making use of any blockchain technology, and certainly not NFTs," said Grace Chen, Sony VP of network advertising loyalty, loyalty, and licensed merchandise in an interview with The Washington Post.



Mojang Studios ended its statement by stating that they would monitor the development of blockchain technology in the future applications.
