I. Activity 3.1.a:
Define protocols and standards. State the differences between the two. (10 points)
In computer networks, communication occurs between entities in different systems. An entity is anything capable of sending or receiving information.

A protocol is a set of rules that govern data communications. The pointer elements of a protocol are syntax, semantics, and timing. Standards are essential in creating and maintaining an open and competitive market for equipment manufacturers and in guaranteeing national and international interface of data and telecommunications technology and processes. Standards provide guidelines to manufacturers, vendors, government agencies, and other service providers to ensure the form of interconnectivity necessary in today's marketplace and international communications.

II. Life Activity 3.1.b:
Relate protocols and standards in your daily living. (15 points)

We can relate the protocol when we are using an app to communicate with our friends via messenger. For example we wake up in the morning, we use our cell phone and click the messenger app then we update our friends for school works, trivias and so on. Then the Standards are opposite of it. For example, we wake up in the morning, and go to our friends or neighborhood at the point we communicate with through the personal interface “chismis chismis”.

III. Activity 3.2.
Search an OSI Layer model and interpret each layer. (25 points)

The seven levels that computer systems employ to interact over a network are described by the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. Early in the 1980s, all significant computer and telecommunications businesses accepted it as the first industry standard for network communications. The simplified TCP/IP model, rather than OSI, is the foundation of the modern Internet. The OSI 7-layer model is still extensively used, nevertheless, as it aids in both isolating and troubleshooting networking issues as well as helping to depict and convey how networks function.OSI was first presented in 1983 by executives from the biggest computer and telecom firms, and it was accepted as an international standard in 1984 by ISO.
