Technoblade, a YouTube personality who built an audience of millions thanks to his wry comments on videos of him playing Minecraft, has died as his father announced in a video that was posted on his son's account.

More than 11 million subscribers made a habit of watching screen recordings of Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay as he provided commentary off camera. He presented everyday life events in his videos that range from the mundane to going to a D.M.V. or as devastating as being diagnosed with cancer.

Technoblade's YouTube channel released an original video titled "so long geeks" on Thursday. The video was watched more than 26 million times as of Friday afternoon. The video is a departure from the channel's usual aesthetic which is characterized by vibrant bricks that are pixelated. Instead, Technoblade's father appears in a chair with a small white dog on an unmistakably white background.

His father, who does not give his name reads the message from his child that begins: "Hello everyone. Technoblade is here. You can see me dead in this video if you're watching it.

The message goes on to reveal Technoblade's initial name, Alex, which he did not use online. The video also features several images of Alex with loved ones. He had rarely presented himself in his YouTube videos, preferring to portray himself as his character: a crowned and sword-wielding pig.

"If I had another hundred lives, I think I would prefer to be Technoblade repeatedly," Alex's letter says. "Those were the happiest years of my life."

His father, who is still in tears throughout the video, says that Alex and he had been discussing for months about whether to film a final movie. His father claims that Alex wrote the letter and passed away eight hours later.

He adds, "I don’t think he said all he wanted to but I think he understood the major points."

The video concludes with a written declaration that Alex's mother (who is not identified) wrote. She wrote that Alex avoided personal fame and was self-deprecating, even as his channel grew in popularity.

She wrote that Technoblade was always seeking ways to delight and reward their fans. He gave away prizes online and encouraged good sportsmanship and most importantly, he shared his Minecraft adventures to provide entertainment and fun.

Alex's family couldn't be reached on Friday. Hypixel, a gaming company that collaborated with Technoblade and Alex's family, confirmed that the family had asked that inquiries for comment not be sent to them. Don Pireso, the company administrator, stated in a tweet that "The video they posted contains all the information they are comfortable sharing right now."

Alex first publicly acknowledged the diagnosis of cancer in a video uploaded to his channel in August. The video, which featured Alex speaking off camera and played the game. He maintained his self-deprecating and humorous style, refusing any attempt to be serious. He also admitted his age at the time, 22.

In the video, he narrated how the first round of chemotherapy made him so exhausted that he was unable to get up for a virtual doctor's appointment. Then, he joked: "Sitting in a chair, am I Superman?"

After experiencing severe pain in his arm he said he was diagnosed. Although he initially dismissed the pain as a result of repetitive stress from video games, he stated that his shoulder was swelling up after several days of rest.

He also urged people to get a Covid-19 vaccine, saying that the treatments for cancer had weakened his immune system, which put him at chance of contracting serious illness due to the coronavirus.

He said, "I'm going ahead and speak for all cancer patients when I find it extremely irritating when hospitals are overloaded by patients dying of preventable illnesses." "I'm just saying that we're entitled to those hospital beds."

Technoblade's fans, friends and followers on social media have praised for his humor and also for being an inspiration for Minecraft players.

Minecraft is unique to other games because its owner, Microsoft, does not control the servers on which players interact online. Instead, players can create their own servers or join one that was created by someone else, resulting in an enormous network of worlds in the Minecraft universe.

Hypixel which manages a network of Minecraft servers, announced that it had designed a digital memorial book that allows users to write messages that could be printed and then sent to the family of Technoblade. Hypixel's tribute included the pig's avatar as a statue. Technoblade's success is linked in numerous ways to the success and success of many people.
