Minecraft the End: how to find an end Portal

Thinking about going to The End? Here are some ways to find an End Portal within a stronghold and how to create one that is in a creative mode.

Are you trying to find an End Portal in Minecraft? If you're looking to travel to The End, then there's only one option - an End Portal. It requires commitment to jump into a different dimension. Once you've stepped in the End Portal, you can't return.



We're sure you have your reasons for visiting the End. Perhaps you'd like to go down the terrifying Ender Dragon or maybe you require some valuable resources such as End Stone or Chorus, or maybe, like us, you just like the bleak endless view of the vast void. Whatever the reason, you'll need to hop into an End Portal to get there.



End Portals can only be found in the portal room of strongholds. You'll require an Eye of Enders to guide you to the location of a stronghold. Then, you'll have to dig a very deep underground to find it. Once you do you'll see it atop an lava pool. There's typically at least one Eye of Ender in each End Portal. You have an opportunity of 10% of it being a result of an existing one.



The End Portal activated will immediately transfer you to the End. There is no way to stop it. Once you've reached the End you'll appear in the middle of an island, with smaller islands visible to explore. You'll have to defeat the Ender Dragon on the main island to access the outer islands , or leave The End. This will open up an opportunity to either complete the game' and then return to the normal Minecraft overworld as we know it - or explore the other islands.



How do I create an End portal in Minecraft



Although in survival mode, you'll need to find a stronghold to activate an End Portal - in creative you can design your own. Here's how to activate an End Portal:



12 x Eyes of Ender 12x Portal Frame Blocks



Draw a 3x3 area on the ground, and when you are standing within that zone, you must line your Portal Frame Blocks across the edges of that 3x3 square.



No matter if you built your own or found an End Portal in a Stronghold put all 12 of the Eyes of Ender in their respective blocks to activate it. The portal won't open when only one Eye of Ender is placed horizontally. It will be obvious that it is working when you can't see the lava (if you are looking at the version that is stronghold) and the ground (your created version).
