The Kerem Tunnel is a great place to ride and hike.
In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem's capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

The tunnel is located along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Motza route. Its southern entrance is in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban and its northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a mile from the Kerem junction.

Inauguration of the tunnel, which is 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion and Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) along with hundreds of cyclists.

The city's rich history was a reason why it was a popular tourist attraction in the past. Elkin stated that the current tourism industry is one of Jerusalem's historic treasures and is also a part of modern-day tourism. "The inauguration of this tunnel project [is] another part in the development Jerusalem. It transforms Jerusalem into an attractive tourist place for all types of audience throughout Israel as well as around the world."


Elkin his ministry, which spearheaded the project along with Jerusalem Municipality stated that his ministry had invested thousands of shekels every year in Jerusalem's tourist development and in the development of new activities and ventures that connect the stunning historic past with the the future of Jerusalem. I would like to invite cyclists to ride along a the modern, well-maintained cycling route overlooking the unique landscape of Old Jerusalem.

Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project was a important tool to realize the goal of shifting the idea of transportation in Jerusalem. The goal is to encourage cycling among its residents and promote the green movement in Jerusalem."

The work currently in progress includes road construction, the installation of blowers as well as modern safety and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for pedestrians to travel through throughout the year.

Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel provides access to special recreation areas, such as Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the biblical aquarium and zoo , as also the historical natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
