The third and most important thing to do to conquer your betting is, at a later time when you aren't playing poker, analyze the information you recorded about yourself on what was stopping you betting.
Finally, when the cards are face up at the end of the game, you backtrack and check what your thoughts where and what in fact happened. You can clearly see how close you came to getting it right.

Your opponent's chip stack also makes a huge difference, not only to the size of your bet, but as to whether or not you will bet at all. If you make a pre-flop raise of $300 and your opponent calls with only $300 left in his stack, he is pot-committed and you will not be able to bluff him after the flop. Realize this and either flop or be prepared to put him all in.
If there is more than 1 opponent in the pot and I'm in early position, I don't c-bet unless I have a hand. This rule sounds predictable but it rarely causes a problem. If I played against the same group of people on a regular basis, I would mix it up occasionally. But for the average poker player, this is just fine.
poker betting strategy Now, you need to know all your pot odds and outs. This way you can calculate how much probability you do in fact have of winning. Knowing your pure chance of winning is the best first step to being able to win.
This is a solid method because if you have the best cards you will win. However always getting the best cards isn't as easy as it sounds. Tight play will increase your profits here.
