Constraining RF-EMF Exposure inside Children
If your child is under the age of ten, you might be concerned about their exposure to RF radiation. If so, read on to learn about the dangers and benefits of limiting exposure to RF radiation. It's essential to keep your children's health in mind. A few lifestyle changes can make a difference.

Exposure to radiofrequency (RF) in children
The Dutch ABCD Study and the Spanish INMA Project included two children's groups with their respective parents. The study population collected data on the use of screen devices and calculated the total RF-EMF exposures. These exposure amounts were determined by a combination exposure algorithm that took into account the various factors that can influence a child's exposure. The participants also completed rigorous cognitive tests that were validated to assess the IQ of non-verbal and verbal as well as working memory, attention and task switching, cold executive function, visuomotor coordination, as well as processing speed.

The study assessed the environmental EMF exposure of 529 children across five European countries. The exposure levels recorded in the children ranged from 87.5 MHz to six GHz. The children were wearing portable "experimenters" that monitored their exposures while playing outdoors and using handheld devices. They were also required to fill out questionnaires as well as activity diaries to keep track of how much time they spent on their devices on their phones.

The total exposure to RF-EMF exposure was extremely low, ranging from 0.13% to 0.92% of the ICNIRP reference levels per second. Participants in the study were less likely to use cellphones than the average adult, a majority using them for less than five minutes during the afternoon time.

The FCC established limits for the RF radiation level that children should be exposed to in their daily environments. However, this limit was set over 25 years ago. Therefore, the FCC should take into consideration recent research findings and modify its limits to protect children's health. The limits of exposure to RF should be lower than the federal limits, which is 0.4 milliwatts per kilogram.

Children's exposure to radiofrequency radiation is largely based on the abdomen and torso. The ICNIRP guidelines should define the exposure limits for the different parts of the body that children. They should also publish an appropriate safety margin for each region. emf protection 't the only data to be considered in the research.
