It's likely that Minecraft will meets its August release window on PS4 after it failed the Sony certification tests. This means that it's back to the fixing board for 4J Studios, and the team will need to submit the game for certification before it can be released.
4J has been working hard to fix bugs and fixing issues throughout the month. This is not only for the PS4 version as well as for the upcoming Xbox One/Vita releases. We approached the studio to confirm the delay and determine if it will impact the PS4 version only or other platforms. The three ports are scheduled to be released this month.
Sony found some issues we have to fix in their final test of #MinecraftPS4 :( We're working on fixing it the issues, but we have to repeat the process.
- 4J Studios (@4JStudios) August 20, 2014. When they release the market, the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Mojang's game will retail for $20 on digital storefronts. The owners of downloaded Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be allowed to upgrade to Xbox One and PS4 respectively at a cost of $5. The offer is valid for at least a year after the date of release. The new versions will offer larger worlds and more draw distance than previous console releases.
The Vita version is cross-buyable with PS3. yurock.net This means that users who purchased Minecraft on the console will receive the handheld version for free, and new buyers will be able to unlock the game on Vita and PS3. Like other ports, the asking price for grinding your pickaxe on Vita is $20.
