One of the things you need to do to become a successful NL Hold'em poker player is learn how to bet. It doesn't matter what cards you get dealt, how strong your pocket is or not, when you can correctly guess what your opponent has you can bet effectively enough to force them into a corner.
The fifth tip to success is to truly stay with you. Like anything in life, you really need to stick with Holdem for a while before you will start to see consistent profitable results. The game is quite complex so it takes a while to master it.
Sometimes using bluffs can be a boost to your poker betting strategy for Texas Hold'Em. It is important to remember that bluffs will work best when they are unexpected, if you bluff too often no one will fall for your tricks. On the flip side, if you never use bluffs and bet on a good hand, other players are more likely to pick up on the hand and fold rather than bet against you.
When I'm in late position, I'll throw out a continuation bet against two people if they both check to me. Against 3 or more opponents, I won't c-bet at all unless I have a strong hand.
