The Minecraft Vanilla Cape has players confused. There are many cool capes in Minecraft. Did you know this? It's one those item slots in the sandbox which most people don't think about. But they are there in case you require them. Some of these slots are used to be used for things like transferring your Mojang account, or attending events, but an upcoming one will require you to have done something.
The Minecraft Vanilla Cape is, at this point an oddly well-known fact. This is because an article was published earlier this week on the official Minecraft site talking about the cape. However, it was removed just a few hours later. THE BLOG It's a bizarre state of affairs, and there's no reason as to why this is the case.
Phoenix SC posted a video about the whole mess, and even made an illustration of the cape as well if you want to experience it in action. The short version of the entire story is that Mojang published a blog, which we've just linked to, but it returns a 404 'not found' error, and then takes it down. It clarified that those who bought the Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft prior to June 6, 2022 would receive a fancy Vanilla Cap.
The site was taken down just a few hours later, and is now accessible only on the Wayback Machine. This is a bit odd. The article isn't particularly alarming and it doesn't look to have been announced in advance. While we don't know the reason it was removed, it is clear that it was. According to the Wikipedia the cape was advertised on the Minecraft Discord server, so why was it removed?
