The Illegal Architecture was designed by a whopping 145 people, gathered by the Minecraft Architects Project, a Japanese group. Where there are sheep Organiser Dambo-Ru explains that they realized at an early stage that this would be "organised chaos." Instead of fighting it they decided to make the theme of the build accordingly. "As many people were not aware of one another, we thought that the theme should allow for people to build in various architectural styles and allow the building to be integrated into a single art." This was why they decided to go with illegal architecture.
Dambo-Ru explains that the people who organized the event didn't intend to restrict anyone's creativity, so they didn't "decide on a strategy.Dambo-Ru says that "Each participant could build whatever they wanted to." Parts of the event were live-streamed and the management team used this to show the gaps that needed to be filled though "some skilled builders helped fill in gaps naturally by mixing styles of building" on their own.
