The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique ride and hiking experience that is to be enjoyed by all.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's newest cycle tunnel, is constructed as a part of a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel was officially opened at a formal ceremony on Thursday attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov as well as hundreds of cyclists.

Elkin his ministry, which together with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, explained that the ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels every year in the improvement of all aspects of Jerusalem's tourism and the development of exciting tourist attractions and ventures that link the rich history of our eternal capital to the future of Jerusalem... I invite the cycling community to enjoy a safe and modern-day route that takes the cyclist through Old Jerusalem.

Elkin's ministry and the Tourism Ministry budgeted the project.
