Jungles are among the largest and most diverse biomes in Minecraft. Here's how to locate the Jungle in Minecraft and what to expect when you get there.
Information in this article applies to all versions of Minecraft including Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
How to Find a Jungle in Minecraft
Jungles are believed to be rare in the game. As with most biomes in Minecraft, Jungles have no specific location, however they typically have a higher chance of appearing near Savannas, Mesas, and Desert biomes. Jungles are immediately apparent because of the huge number of tall trees. These trees will cover almost the entire roof of the Jungle with their leaves.
You can find the exact coordinates of Jungle biomes using an external tool called Biome Finder.
Jungle Trees
Jungle trees can reach 30 blocks in height and can be climbed by players with vines. The largest Jungle trees are constructed of four blocks that extend upwards, which means you can collect 120 blocks of wood from a single tree. The base of a tree is a good base for constructing an arboretum.
The wood is a light pinkish-red tint when the tree's Jungle Wood is refined and transformed into Jungle Wood Planks. The Jungle Wood Planks do not have any unique characteristics apart from their color. Like all Planks they can be used to make various tools and items and thus you can create colors for items like Doors, Boats, or Stairs.
Jungle Types
Jungles biomes come in different variations:
- Regular Jungle - Jungle Hills
- Jungle Edge
- Bamboo Jungles
While regular Jungle biomes are dangerous, Jungle Hills are even more dangerous. When you're on a Jungle Hill, it's best to stay crouched down on the ground until you find an option to hold yourself up in the air. The trees in the Edge variants are more closely. Bamboo Jungles are mini-biomes found within regular Jungles. They have smaller trees and are more likely to see pandas.
Jungle Ocelots
Ocelots are only obtainable in the Jungle biome. Ocelots are difficult to find due to the denseness of the bushes and trees. However they are worth the effort to locate as they are a threat to Minecraft Creepers who try to sneak up on them.
Slowly move towards an Ocelot with a raw fish to capture it. After the mob has noticed your presence and doesn't flee, stop and stay where you are. Allow the Ocelots to approach you and then feed them, gaining their trust.
Jungle Temples
In certain Jungle biomes, you'll discover mysterious structures made of Mossy Cobblestone or Chiseled Stone Bricks. These Jungle Temples are filled with puzzles, traps, and plenty of treasure. Inside, you'll find items such as Arrows, Bones, Rotten Flesh, Saddles, Enchanted Books, Iron Horse Armor, Iron Ingots, Gold Horse Armor, Gold Ingots, Diamond Horse Armor Diamonds, Emeralds, and Diamonds.
Fake It Till You Make It
Jungle Plants
Cocoa plants are a rare species that grows on the Jungle Biome's sides. There are three types of Cocoa plants: a small, medium-sized, yellow-orange, and ready-to-harvest dark orange-brown types. Cocoa can be used to make food products and alter the color of foods. Cocoa Beans are not able to be put on Jungle Wood. If you plan to bring it out of the Jungle to start a farm, make sure you have Jungle Wood.
