With Microsoft's billions behind it, Minecraft's momentum isn't slowing. The game supports VR and allows players to tweak their worlds with Add-ons. The film is scheduled to release in 2019 (although it will release in 2019) and will soon be an official novel. Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft: The Island is the latest book. It was written by Max Brooks, who also wrote the post-apocalyptic novel World War Z.

Although it is not yet clear when the book will be published or if it will tie in with the movie, it appears that it will be the first in a series of books. Publishing house Del Rey -- the science fiction division of Penguin Random House -- is in charge of everything and the company has already stated that it's "fortunate to have someone with Max's incredible talent and passion in the helm for the start of the series."
Parents will likely be responsible for more expenses, but some will be pleased for the fact that Minecraft is expanding its reach into education.
