Download the Debian/Ubuntu Minecraft.deb File. Save it to Linux files under My Files. Double-click Minecraft.deb to choose the option to install.


After the installation is finished then start the App Drawer and navigate to the Linux folder. Select Minecraft Launcher to launch your game.

How to Get Minecraft on Chromebook



You can play Minecraft on Windows and Linux, macOS, as also on mobile devices like Android or iOS. There hasn't been a Chromebook version of Minecraft. You can however install Linux directly from the Chromebook settings page. Once you have done that, you can install and play Minecraft on a Chromebook easily.



To install Linux on your Chromebook Open Chromebook Settings and select Linux (Beta) from the left menu. In the Linux pane, select the option to turn it on.



The process of setting up Linux on your Chromebook will consume 45 MB of local Chromebook storage. To ensure you have enough space, use the Chromebook file manager.



Select Next to continue in the pop-up Linux setup window. Select Install and enter a username for your Linux session. It could take several minutes for Chromebook to download and to set up the virtual machine in which Linux will be installed. After that, a Linux terminal window will open.



Visit the Minecraft download page and download the Debian/Ubuntu Minecraft.deb file to your Chromebook. Save the file to the Linux files folder within your Chromebook storage area.



Double-click the Minecraft.deb folder and then click the Install button to install Minecraft on your Chromebook's Linux virtual machine.



After the installation is complete After the installation is complete, start the App Drawer and click on the Linux folder to choose Minecraft Launcher.



If you are confronted with an installation error, start the Terminal app from the app drawer and type the following Linux commands to install the latest version of the Java Development Kit:



- sudo apt-get update


- sudo apt-get upgrade


- sudo apat-get install default JDK





This will launch Minecraft for Chromebook. The login window will appear. Log into your Minecraft account and begin playing Minecraft! Once you launch the game, the app will download the latest release to your Linux container and install the update.



The Demo can be played without having to purchase Minecraft. To play the full version, you will need to click the Buy Now button and purchase Minecraft Java Edition.



How to Play Minecraft on Chromebook



If you follow the steps to install Minecraft, it will run perfectly on your Chromebook. However, you might find that the game is a bit laggy or the mouse may not function as it should. There are several Chromebook settings you can tweak to increase performance and decrease the possibility of encountering bugs.



Chrome Flags enabled



Allow Chrome flags. These flags will enhance your Minecraft experience. If you don't see any of these flags below, it means it's not supported on your particular version of Chromebook and you don't have to worry about enabling the flag.



You can enable all of the flags listed below by opening the Chrome browser by entering (or pasting) into the URL and selecting Enabled from the dropdown list.

Optimize Minecraft Settings for Chromebook



To optimize Minecraft settings for Chromebook, press Esc while playing and select Options from the menu. Select Video Settings. The following settings are adjustable.



Graphics Fast


Smooth Lighting: Off


Render Distance: 10 chunks


Max Framerate: 30 FPS


Clouds Off


Particles: Small


Entity Shadows Off



Install OptiFine for Minecraft



OptiFine can be installed on lower-end Chromecast devices if you notice that Minecraft isn't as fast after changing the settings. This app optimizes your framerate on lower-end Chromebooks. Simply download the latest version, place it in your Linux file folder, and then use the Terminal window to type.



java -jar OptiFine_1.14.4_HD_U_F5.jar



(Replace the file name with the one you downloaded. minecraft servers In our case above, our file name is OptiFine_1.14.4_HD_U_F5).



Select Install and OptiFine will be installed onto your Chromebook Linux installation.



This means that you can play Minecraft full-screen even on a Chromebook and it will run excellent.



Minecraft for Chromebook



You'll see a message stating that Minecraft isn't compatible with Chromebook on the Minecraft sign-up page. However, this is true. But, if you follow the above steps, Minecraft won't work on Chromebook. It's running inside an Linux virtual machine on your Chromebook. As far as the Minecraft servers know, you're playing Minecraft on the Linux machine.



This means that so long as you have one of the supported Chromebook devices, you can run Linux (Beta) and use Minecraft on your Chromebook without issue at all. If you don't own an approved device but want to play Minecraft you might want to consider upgrading to one of the top Chromebooks currently available.
