Ski in the Scottish Highlands
The snow conditions in Scotland vary throughout the year. However, on average mountain areas get a fair amount of snowfall. The ski season in Scotland generally extends from December until the beginning of April. This season varies depending on the snowfall, with the most favorable conditions for skiing being in January through April. It's recommended to book ahead of time to ensure you get the most of snow conditions.

CairnGorm Mountain

A trip to CairnGorm Mountain in the Highlands is a memorable experience as it is a natural phenomenon and home to a number of iconic wildlife species. The Cairngorms National Park is located in the north east of Scotland and is comprised of the Cairngorm range of mountains and the hills surrounding it.

Cairngorm is also located in the mountain range. It is the sixth highest mountain in Britain. A large part of Cairn Gorm is used for downhill skiing. The Coire na Ciste surrounding area is used as a base for a funicular railway. The railway allows access to the 150m below the summit of the Ptarmigan Building.


Glencoe Mountain

The stunning Glencoe mountain range is made up of the oldest sedimentary strata in the world. They created as a result of an eruption of the cauldron around 380 million years ago. Among the peaks of the Glencoe range is Aonach Eagach, an elongated ridge with a pinnacle that connects three peaks that rise over three thousand feet.

This mountain is stunning However, it also has a rich history. The area was the scene of the famous Massacre of Glencoe in 1692. Between thirty and forty members of Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by the forces of the government for not pledging allegiance at the time. Fingal is the most famous Celtic hero and king of Feinn, is a common name throughout the region.

Nevis Range Mountain Resort

Nevis Range Mountain Resort is one of the top resorts in the Scottish Highlands that is home to the country's only gondola system. It is located on the mountain that is closest to Ben Nevis, and it offers a variety of activities all year round. Visitors can take advantage of cycling and hiking trails, and climb a cable car to the summit. Mountain bikers can also use the specialized trails that descend to 2000 feet.

The only UK World Cup downhill course is located in the resort. There are many MTB trails that can be used by all levels , and a brand-new Blue Doon Trail for families to enjoy.

Lecht Ski Area

The Lecht Ski Area is a ideal spot to visit when you want to be outdoors and want to experience the best Scottish skiing. This area has a wide range of terrains, ranging from gentle slopes to more challenging slopes. It's located on the top of the pass between Strathdon and Tomintoul.

The Lecht Ski Centre provides 18 km of slopes with 13 lifts to take you up and down the mountain. This area is ideal for beginners and offers a variety of groomed runs throughout.
