It's helpful to know WoW's server statuses since there are separate maintenance schedules as well as down times. The realms that comprise the modern game and WoW Classic are interrupted from time to time and it's nice to know that the cause is Blizzard and not you. Fortunately, there's a simple way to check the status of the realm at any moment.
Blizzard's official Realm Status page is available on the official website. It lists all realms that are available in the WoW Classic and modern games. Every realm is listed with its type, population size and time zone. You can also alter the region at the top right. To the left of that is an icon for status that indicates whether or the realm is available to you. This is the place to look if you're trying to log in to your character on a maintenance or launch day for a new patch.
A quick search for WoW realm status will reveal several websites that appear identical to the official site. I'd be careful using those over the official website, but they're a good way to check if , for any reason Blizzard's page is down. Logging in is the best method to determine whether the realms are down. Sometimes, you can view a live list showing the status of all realms as well as their status. This was one of the main ways to gain access to WoW Classic last year for name reservations.
There are also people ranting about servers being down on Twitter and Discord. You're not the only one in these times of need. We're all trying to get back online to finish our World Quests or to level up. Our collective effort will ensure that the servers will be ready to go faster the next time there's an outage. All about wow private servers I hope.
