How to Locate and Utilize Copper In Minecraft

Minecraft Copper is a metal resource that was added in the 1.17 update. You'll have to melt it into its ore form in order to create usable Copper ingots to make. According to your Y-level, copper ore is actually quite widespread and you'll easily spot the pieces of green and orange that poke out of the stony ore blocks. There are a few things you should be aware of about Copper ore. It is oxidized and transforms to a blueish-green color. Of course, if would like to buy a Lightning Rod or a Spyglass, you'll need to hunt for Copper. How to find Copper in Minecraft



For a Spyglass you may require some Minecraft AmethystShards to match your copper



Copper Ore is required to make Minecraft Copper Ingots. The resource appears in the form of a Copper vein, which means that you'll typically see several Copper ore blocks that are grouped together. You should bring a Stone Pickaxe, or a more expensive pickaxe as Copper Ore extracted with pickaxes or other tools won't drop any.



Copper Ore spawns between the Y-levels 0 to 96 and has a higher probability of spawning in the middle layers (Y48). It is best to search at least a little lower than sea level (Y63). If the Copper ore spawns between layers J0 and J16 it's called Deepslate Copper Ore. The latter has a higher level of hardness than normal Copper Ore and takes longer to mine. As it's also quite uncommon, it's best to go with the standard Copper Ore type. Dripstone cave biomes also contain large veins of Copper ore.



How to get copper ingots from Minecraft



However mining Copper Ore will only get you Raw Copper. To make Minecraft Copper Ingots, you'll need to melt the raw material. This is an easy step that the majority of Minecraft players are familiar with. Simply put the Raw Copper in an oven and add fuel (wood or diesel). Then wait until your Copper Ingots are ready. How can you utilize copper in Minecraft



Now that you have Copper Ingots, it's time to get started crafting. These items can be made using Copper Ingots



Copper block. To create a smooth, solid copper brick, you need nine copper Ingots. Lightning Rod. To make a Lightning Rod, place three Copper Ingots on top of each other. Check out our separate guide to Minecraft lightning rods.


Spyglass. To create a Spyglass, place one Amethyst Shard over two Copper Ingots.


How do I wax Copper in Minecraft



Minecraft copper's color changes as oxidation occurs as in real life. You can see the various stages of Copper Oxidation in Minecraft in the above photo. You can apply wax to your copper if you don't want it to change. This will maintain its current color and will not reset it. Simply attach a honeycomb to the block of copper.



Alternately, you can scrape the Copper block using an axe. This will reduce the level of oxidation by 1 (weathered copper will be exposed copper). A lightning strike, even though you aren't able to anticipate it, will eliminate any oxidation.
