How to get Into Minecraft Betas

Every week we release early versions of Minecraft updates to try out new features, smooth out the wrinkles, and eliminate the bugs before they're released to a wider audience. It's a great opportunity for users like you to check out the latest stuff we're working on before it officially launches!



If the idea of seeing new things for the first time has you excited and you're not afraid of getting into some glitches during the process, then have an overview of your preferred platform here below!



These versions are unstable by nature which means that things can be a bit odd, weird, or simply wrong. The game may crash and the things you create could get corrupted. It's a small risk however it's a risk nonetheless!



In the Java Edition, we put out regular test versions known as Snapshots. Just go to the Launch Options tab, select Snapshots to be enabled and then select the most recent snapshot by clicking the arrow next to the Play button on the main tab.



XBOX One



Xbox One now has Minecraft Preview, which is free to everyone who owns an online copy of Minecraft. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass later in the year. Preview isn't available to Disc owners. Learn more about Preview at the Minecraft Preview FAQ.



WINDOWS 10 and 11



Windows is now offering Minecraft Preview for free to all Minecraft owners and subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. You can learn more about Preview by going to the Minecraft Preview FAQ.



IPHONES AND IPHONES



iOS now offers Minecraft Preview. Players can sign up using this link to be notified when slots become available. We will occasionally open more slots, and we'll also take out inactive users to let new players in. Minecraft Servers Read more about Preview in the Minecraft Preview FAQ!



Android offers an Beta program that you can join at any time even if you already own Minecraft. You'll be replacing your current Minecraft version with this Beta version by joining the Beta program. The Beta version cannot access Realms or Featured servers. It can only be used in multiplayer worlds that are shared with other Beta users.



Click here to join the Android Beta. You can then click "Become Tester" and then click "Leave the Program". To go back to the official version of Minecraft you'll need to uninstall Minecraft and then install it again. It is important to note that worlds created in the beta program may not be playable outside of the beta until the release of the next version.
