These Video Games Could Give Fortnite a Run For Its Money

Crucible

Amazon released "Crucible," a free-to play shooter game for PC in May. The game was not well-liked on the internet so the studio decided to pull it back to closed beta. This means that only those who have downloaded the game will be able to play it.

You can fight monsters to earn experience points and you can work with your teammates to achieve goals in "Crucible". It was launched with three game modes including one that lets you to battle royale.

"It was so diverse in its modes and it was trying to be all things to all kinds of people. It was also too safe," Cassia Crawran, an adviser at Wings Interactive (a fund that invests diverse games) said to CNN Business.

According to Steam Charts, which pulls data directly from the PC gaming platform, just few dozen players are playing "Crucible" at any given time. This is a small amount when compared with the huge number of players in blockbuster films like "Fortnite" or "Valorant".

Valorant

"Valorant," from Riot Games which is the creators of "League of Legends,"" was released on June 2 and it quickly became the world's sixth-highest grossing PC game in June, as per Nielsen's SuperData, which analyzes the gaming industry. Fortnite on PC was beaten by it, but Fortnite was still the top-grossing console game. Valorant can still be played on PC.

"Valorant" is played from a first-person point of view and features five-person teams. In the game, players equipped with weapons and special abilities compete to determine which team will take home the highest score of 24 rounds of gunfights.

Joe Ziegler is the game director for "Valorant." He said that "the game has certainly taken off at a faster rate than I think we could have imagined." He added that some unexpected regions, including Japan and Thailand, have shown interest in the game.

Hyper Scape

"Hyper Scape,"" by Ubisoft was released on July 12. It's the closest game to "Fortnite" among the games on the list. Both are free-to play battle royale games that playable on both PC and console. This means that when it comes to winning fans over it faces one of the toughest challenges in convincing players that it's not just another "Fortnite" replica.

Unlike "Fortnite," within "Hyper Scape" players become ghosts when they die, however, they are able to help teammates by spotting enemies and drawing attention to them.

The reaction of the fans to "Hyper Scape" has been more subdued. The game was not a hit online during its launch week. Ubisoft did not release any figures on how many players are currently playing the game.

Rocket Arena

"Rocket Arena" is an online shooter game that is not related to the hugely popular "Fortnite" -- but many called out the font style, style of art and rapid-fire playing style as a lot like.

Unlike most of the other games on this list, Rocket Arena isn't free costing $29.99 to get started. It may have been a failure.

Davis The Kowloon Nights advisor, was quick to inform the public that the game is now for sale, despite the fact that it was launched on July 14. Although the price was reduced to $5, the sale appears to have ended at the time this article was written.

The game surpassed an record-breaking 1,102 players on Steam which is a PC gaming store. This is a low number for a title from Electronic Arts, who are well-known for making "Star Wars", "Battlefield" and "Star Wars" games. The game is available on console as well, so those figures don't represent the entire players.

The developers declined to be interviewed by us for this story.

Fall Guys

"Fall Guys", a game developed by Devolver Digital, was one of the year's biggest successes. It was released on August 4th and is now available on PlayStation 4 or Windows for $19.99. ASEANBIOTECHNOLOGY.INFO The game had a maximum of 260,000 players as of August 6, according to the developers' statement to CNN Business.

"Fall Guys" might be the most fun battle royale game ever created. You are a jellybean and try to make the most out of the other 60 players by jumping challenges, navigating mazes, and other games-show-like activities.

It is interesting that, unlike other games out there like Amazon's "Crucible," "Fall Guys" was released with just a single game mode and little else. This strategy has been successful for the game, and the servers are overwhelmed by the volume of players. Developers have told CNN Business that they will add more content to Fall Guys and increase the speed of the servers.

"When you launch a massive multiplayer game one of the challenges is that you don't really know how many players will be playing. You shouldn't be able to launch a game if don't have at the very least 60 players," stated Jeff Tanton the creative director of Mediatonic Games, which is behind "Fall Guys." "It seems like a joke now that you look at the numbers we have."
