Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Has Just Dropped - Operation Riptide

It turns out that Valve was actually teasing something to be revealed for Counter-Strike Global Offensive this week. Today, Riptide was launched by the studio. It introduces new game modes, maps , gameplay changes as well as challenges.



You can purchase the new Steam operation pass to unlock the CS:GO Option Riptide. This update introduces major changes to how you can shoot in the shooter. One of them is a new private matchmaking queues feature. This allows you to create an individual queue code to share with pals - or with people all in the same Steam group to set up a private Premier match on Valve's servers. The new operation overview explains that you can group up, form your teams, or simply wait for the matchmaker to sort it out.



Riptide also allows players to choose from two match lengths on official (competitive) CSGO servers Short (MR16) and long (MR30). Or you can choose to go with no preference if your heart is set on one of the match lengths. Team Deathmatch has also got some new options, with the added option of "Classic Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch (first team to 100 kills wins) and Deathmatch that is free for all players (all players are enemies)".



The Demolition and Arms Race game modes have also received some changes that have a different weapon progression in each, plus some other tweaks that you can read about in the overview.



Like previous CSGO operations, there will be rewards to nab during the time that Riptide is available. You'll earn stars for completing weekly missions that you can use on new agents, including "Guerrilla Warfare Terrorists, CT SEAL team 'Frogmen', and the French Gendarmerie" - along with new items, four new weapon collections and other cosmetics.

Basalt and Insertion II now have a place in the Competitive Deathmatch, Casual and Competitive modes' competitive matchmaking pools and Ravine, Extraction and Wingman have been added to Wingman’s official matchmaking. Riptide's gameplay improvements include the ability to drop grenades like regular weapons and an enhancement to body damage (M4A1-S) for the Deagle. Dual Elites are now cheaper, and vision after death has been reduced to 2.0s from 3.0s (0.5s down from 1.0s for vision after headshot).
