The initial version, that was released on December 2, 2009, was more limited than any other edition of Minecraft ever released to the general public, including the pre-classic version that is accessible via the Minecraft Launcher. A version update on December 4, 2009, altered the controls and added widescreen, more blocks, and the ability to put and destroy blocks. [2]
The page that hosted the original game was removed in November 2014. You can still access its archive through the Wayback Machine. The executable can also be found on the Internet Archive.
On December 2, 2012 Notch released the JavaScript version of Minecraft 4k. It is not possible to move or look around in this version, however the camera or world does move by itself and there's the blue water-like block addition to the other types of blocks. [3]
1 Gameplay 1.1 General, 1.2 World 1.3 Controls
Gameplay[]
General[]
The player can place or destroy blocks. The only block the player can place is grass, similar to the very early builds of Minecraft internally known as RubyDung which are available through the Minecraft Launcher. Leaves do not decay.
World[]
Every time the game is loaded, the same 64x64x63-block universe is generated. There are only two blocks in the game that are air, grass block, dirt block, stone bricks and bricks. No mobs exist.
The game's first build utilizes one type of block. It uses a XOR fractal texture.
Minecraft servers list
A wall that is invisible is a barrier that surrounds the world, stopping the player from escaping, similar to invisible bedrock or an old world.
Controls[]
The player can move using the normal WASD controls as also jumping using Space.
Controls for left- and right-clicking are reversed from traditional Minecraft controls. Left-click puts blocks, while right-clicks demolish them. Middle-clicks can also place blocks in a bizarre manner. The camera is "smoothly" activated by moving the mouse, just like pressing F8 in Java Edition. This version cannot be altered.
The camera acts differently to Minecraft's. The camera only moves when the cursor is moved far enough away from the center of Minecraft's viewport. The cursor selects blocks in the world, not the center of the screen.
The game is devoid of menu options or HUD.
Graphics[]
Because the game renders at an extremely low resolution, the graphics appear blurred. The game isn't able to scale the resolution correctly when it runs at higher resolution. This causes the game to retain its noisy appearance. Block textures are similar to the ones used in Classic because Classic 0.30 (Creative) was the most current version of Minecraft at the time. Most blocks appear louder than their Minecraft counterparts, although some blocks, especially stone, are a lot different. The sky is black because of the absence of a skybox.
When hovering the cursor over a block the outline of the block appears thick and white, in contrast to Minecraft's thin gray block selection outline.
A comparison of Minecraft 4k's and Minecraft Classic's block textures.
A screenshot showing the thick white outline around the chosen block.
Another image that illustrates the same.
Blocks[]
The initial version of the game has one non-air block.
The second version stores block IDs in four bits. This allows for 16 IDs. These are mostly filled in with slightly different textured dirt.
