Brundidge Recalls What She Said to Her Son

In March she was able to discover the miracle she was looking for on a trip in Texas. The normally shy and quiet little boy was now smiling and strutting around the RV park, talking to strangers and, frankly speaking, worrying his mom about his newfound confidence.



"I wondered why my son is so courageous?" Brundidge told CNN.



"These are my followers," Brandon replied. "They know me. They love me."



Brundige was confused, until her son intervened and pointed to something.



"See? "It's my word!" He said.



She was shocked to see a sign that had the same slogan as numerous banners, bumper stickers, and other semblances of paraphernalia that were found in the vicinity.



"That's not a sign," Brundidge remembers saying to her son. "That's your book."



The book led to a charming meeting



The origins and meaning of "Let's Go Brandon" aren't all that positive.



The phrase is a sworn affirmation for F Joe Biden that was used during a broadcast of the NASCAR Sparks 300 race on October 2021. The crowd at Talladega Superspeedway was chanting the tune when NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast who was apparently misinterpreting the phrase, claimed they were chanting "Let's go Brandon" in honor of the winner of the race, Brandon Brown.



'Let's go Brandon",' he explained.



Conservative individuals immediately reacted to the misinterpretation, embedding it into the language of politics. Today, "Let's Go Brandon!" declarations are ubiquitous online and on all manner of conservative merchandise.



Brandon Brundidge didn't know any of that. It was a way to encourage him.



Sheletta Brundidge's newest book, "Brandon Spots His Sign," was published in April, within one month of her son's epiphany. With lots of hustle and the help of her illustrator, Sheletta Brundidge also released the book "Brandon Spots His Sign" in April.



Brandon is anxious about participating in activities like dancing and swimming due to his autism. He then spots the "Let's Go Brandon!" messages that encourage him to take on more risk. The back of the book includes tips for encouraging people with autism.



President Joe Biden was attracted to the book and wrote a letter of appreciation to Brandon. It also reached Brown who was the NASCAR driver who was unknowingly instrumental in helping to start the "Let's Go Brandon" craze. Brown was publicly not averse to the phrase and was struggling to keep sponsors in light of its controversial nature.



Brown's team reached out to the Brundidges and invited them to attend an coming Xfinity Series race. Within one week, the family was at Wisconsin's Road America racetrack, participating in the event as VIPs. Brown even had the Brundidge's book's cover splashed across the hood of his Camaro.

"I know the way it works. When you're well-known and respected, people are more likely to invite you to go. Brundidge stated that Brandon [Brown] was the sweetest man who he met." He could have waited. He could have looked at the book and thought, "That's cool." He understood the importance of bringing awareness."



Brandon, the younger, even got to push Brown's car, which he said was one of his most favorite parts. This, along with getting to know another Brandon and Brown, of course.



The boy also gave the driver an autism awareness pendant on a chain, which is a resemblance to one of his own.



"He hasn't removed it since," Brundidge said.

Brown felt that the charmed encounter offered a opportunity to revive an expression he feels has become negative.



"To have this come though was like that moment of breakthrough for us," Brown said after the Xfinity Series race. "This could be a positive thing. This can be positive. It doesn't have be divisive or a snide attack.



CNN has reached for NASCAR for comment.



The meeting led to friendships.



After the race, the relationship between the Brandons continued to grow. Sheletta Brundidge has said that Brown calls or texts her son every day to talk about Minecraft or just check up on him.



Brandon's younger self has received a tremendous boost from the whole experience.



Brandon Brundidge was able to sign his name on Brown’s car.



Brundidge says, "I have seen him confidence rise to the top." "Kids with autism are so often chosen last or left out. It's usually because other children aren't able to comprehend why they behave the way they do.



"You must just pray for a strong support system, and also for love," she continues. "And Brandon Brown has loved my child. He has shone a light on autism around the world for everyone to be able to.



Brandon Brundidge now has an acquaintance, new fans, and many new books to sign. (Which is hard work, he told CNN.) His mom hopes this experience will demonstrate how children with autism can be successful with love and encouragement.



Even in the midst of conflict there are always miracles.
