While RF radiation isn't thought to directly harm DNA, it may cause heat to accumulate within body tissues, which could lead to injuries to tissues or burns. In contrast to ionizing radiation RF radiation is not believed to cause cancer. However, studies have revealed increased tumor rates in laboratory animals exposed to RF radiation.
There are numerous federal agencies responsible for managing and monitoring the consequences of RF radiation on the human body. These include the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. They monitor RF exposure to ensure that it is safe for employees. They also urge employees to minimize their exposure if they are working in environments with high-frequency RF.
