Additionally, it may cause skin changes and tumors in some individuals. In the end, excessive exposure could cause long-term health problems.

The research that proves how exposure to RF EMF can cause EHS isn't extensive. However, there are many other studies that prove this link with RF EMF and the oxidative stress. While it's not clear how long EMF exposure may cause cell damage, it's important to know what's happening in the body to avoid this issue. It could even affect the function of organs.


The effect of heating caused by RF EMF is due to the polarity the compounds. If the RF energy flows through a compound that is polar, the atomic nuclei and electrons within the nuclei get moved away from their equilibrium positions. This causes the electrons surrounding the nuclei become induced dipoles. The dipole realignment happens thousands of times per second. During this process, friction develops between the rotating molecules, and heat is produced throughout the entire volume of the material.

While RF radiation isn't thought to directly damage DNA, it could cause heat to build up in body tissue, which could lead to burning or damage to tissue. Unlike ionizing radiation, RF radiation isn't believed to cause cancer. However, some studies show an increase in tumors in laboratory subjects exposed RF radiation.

There are many federal agencies that are involved in managing and monitoring the consequences on the body of RF radiation on the human body. This includes those of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, and the OSHA. They track RF exposure to ensure it's safe for workers. They also advise employees to reduce their exposure if they are working in environments with high-frequency RF.
