The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique adventure in hiking and riding that is to be loved by everyone.

It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. The southern entrance is in Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is just half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

נווה פריצקי On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Michael, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman and hundreds of cyclists participated in a ceremony to inaugurate the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

I would like to invite cyclists to join us and take a ride along the modern and well-maintained cycle route that offers a view of the unique scenery of Old Jerusalem."

Elkin's Ministerial, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 for the project. The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool for achieving the idea to change the way of thinking and transportation throughout Jerusalem. "The tunnel, which will connect with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will connect with existing cycle paths in the city and are being constructed in its different neighborhood. The tunnel is intended to encourage bicycle riding within the city's residents and promote an environmentally sustainable transportation system in Jerusalem."

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s to relocate its main sewer line towards Sorek's purification plant.

The works currently underway include road construction, the installation of blowers as well as modern safety and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for pedestrians to travel through all year round.
