Recently, I was faced with an issue. It's not too serious however, when it's AFKing. It can sometimes slow down as if I had hit Esc. It's happened several times during an AFK session, but it does occasionally occur when I'm actually playing as mining or building.
It's not a regular occurrence, maybe once every 20 minutes. Sometimes it can happen for hours, then twice in 30 minutes. As far as I can see, this is Minecraft doing this - my PC isn't switching processes, or opening other apps or anything like that.
Edit: after implementing the suggestion to use the F3+P command, the game does not pause anymore.
However, the game can occasionally "stop" randomly, and I haven't noticed the window lose focus. As if, for instance, I was moving, while pressing the movement keys my character will stop moving. I can still move the mouse to look around or click (use an object, etc.), but I must release the motion button and press it again to cause the mouse to move once more.
