Convicted: Keiron Belmont, a teenager was charged with donating Helen Jenkins' savings to a fantasy online gaming site.



After giving away the virtual savings to a friend through a fantasy online game, a teenager was arrested by police and was brought before magistrates.



Keiron Belmont, 19, registered with a friend's profile on the popular online game RuneScape and gave away her virtual cash stash after a heated argument.



Gamer Helen Jenkins - who had spent six years saving "credits" in the world of medieval role-playing and then decided to call in police.



In spite of the fact that the money had no value in the real world, Belmont was charged and was arraigned before the justices.



Prosecutor Anwen Evans said to Swansea Magistrates Court: 'He opened her computer and then logged on to the role-playing fantasy game RuneScape.



He sold all the credit accumulated over the past six years.'



A court heard how Belmont had been staying at the home of Miss Jenkin in Swansea when he logged into her account on the multiplayer online role-playing game.



On the popular game , players earn coins by battling other players or carrying out tasks.



The virtual currency can be used to purchase products such as armour or weapons via trading or the marketplace online.

Belmont of Swansea Belmont, of Swansea, was found guilty under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 of having access to computers and making modifications that were not authorized to computer data.



He was granted a conditional discharge for eight months and Swansea magistrates ordered him to pay PS16 compensation.
