Father of Technoblade, YouTube Minecraft Star Says that his Son Has Died

He read his son's final message on the YouTube channel where the 20-something had entertained more than 11 million viewers with Minecraft gameplay and wry commentary. The title "So long nerds."

Technoblade Technoblade, a YouTube celebrity who gained millions of followers with his humorous commentary on videos of him playing Minecraft has passed away his father announced via a video uploaded to his son's YouTube account.

Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay was watched by more than 11 million subscribers. He provided commentary on camera. He explained everyday life events in videos which range from mundane as going to the doctor for a D.M.V. or as devastating as being diagnosed with cancer.

Technoblade's YouTube channel released the video "so long geeks" on Thursday. The video was watched more than 26 million times by Friday afternoon. Robinson Is Back The video is a departure from the channel's usual aesthetic which is characterized by vibrant, pixelated bricks. Instead, Technoblade's father appears in a chair with an adorable white dog and an unassuming white background.

His father, who does not reveal his name is reading the message from his son. It begins: "Hello, everyone. Technoblade here. If you are watching this, I am dead."

The message continues to reveal Technoblade's initial name, Alex, which he did not use online. The video also features some images of Alex with his loved ones. He hasn't often shown himself in his YouTube videos, preferring instead to present himself as his character: a crown-crowned and sword-wielding pig.

"If I had another hundred years to live I'm pretty sure I'd prefer to be Technoblade over and over again," Alex's letter says. "Those were the happiest years of my life."

His father, who is emotional throughout the video says that he and his son had been discussing for months about whether to film a final movie. The father of the son says that Alex wrote the letter and passed away eight hours later.

He states, "I don’t think he did everything he wanted to, however I believe he was able to get the main points."

The video concludes with a written note that is attributed to Alex's mother who is not named. She said that her son avoided personal fame and was self-deprecating as his channel skyrocketed in popularity.

She wrote that Technoblade was always seeking ways to please and reward their fans. He gave away prizes online, encouraged good sportsmanship, and most importantly, he shared his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and laughter.

Alex's family couldn't be reached on Friday. Hypixel, a gaming company has stated that Alex's family had requested no information be provided to them. "The video they shared includes all the information they're comfortable sharing at the moment," Don Pireso, the company's chief administrator told Twitter in a direct message.

Alex posted his August video on his YouTube channel. It was in this video that he first acknowledged the diagnosis of cancer. The video, which featured Alex's off camera comments, showed the game. He retained his self-deprecating, humorous style, refusing to get too earnest. He also revealed his age, 22.

In the video, he explained how the first round of chemotherapy left him exhausted to the point that it was difficult for him to sit to make a virtual appointment with a doctor. He then joked "Sitting in the chair is I Superman?"

He claimed he was diagnosed after experiencing serious pain in his arm. Although initially, he dismissed the pain as a result of repetitive stress from video games, he said his shoulder was swelling after a few days of rest.

He also advised people to obtain the Covid-19 vaccine. He claimed that his treatment for cancer have weakened his immune system, which made him more vulnerable to serious illness from the coronavirus.

"I'm going to go ahead and speak on behalf of all cancer patients when I say it is incredibly annoying when the hospitals are overloaded with patients dying of preventable illnesses," he said in the video. "I'm just saying, we've got a right to use those hospital beds."

Technoblade's friends, fans, and followers on social media praised for his humor as well as being a role model for Minecraft players.

Minecraft is unique to other games in that its owner, Microsoft, does not manage the servers that players can meet online. Players can instead create their own servers or join one made by someone else, creating an enormous universe of worlds within the Minecraft universe.

Hypixel, which runs a network of Minecraft servers, announced that it had created a memorial book to allow people to write messages which would be printed and sent to the family of Technoblade. Hypixel's tribute featured an illustration of Technoblade's pig as a statue. "In many ways, the success of many of us is tied to the success of Technoblade," the company stated.
