Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 is available and includes some controversial changes, that many players are not particularly happy about.
First, player reporting has been added to the system. This lets players report abusive messages in game chat. You can report specific servers, and choose multiple messages to include as well as add comments. swissrocketman From there, Mojang / Microsoft moderators will examine the reports and deal with them. This applies to all servers including private servers. Linking together with that is another change to the text chat. With their new chat system that is secure, it will put an annotation on the chat for each message that is not sent or if the server altered it.
Mojang states that players won't get banned for swearing, but the focus is more on "hate speech", bullying, harassment, sexual solicitation or making real threats to others". It won't impact single-player gameplay when you're banned.
There are mods that are able to bypass this, for example, the No Chat Reports mod, which claims to eliminate signatures from chat messages and make it "impossible for anyone to track or associate your Minecraft and, in turn, Microsoft accounts with chat messages".
In case you didn't catch it, Mojang also recently said no to NFTs and blockchain in Minecraft.
