The Official Astroneer Discord Server

Please replace the outdated information with up to date information. This could include changing sections to ensure they are concise and clear and wikifying. Reason: Missing dedicated server information. Wow wiki Multiplayer co-op is available in Astroneer for up to 4 players using clients on different platforms: PS4 with PS4, Steam and Steam, Switch with Switch. There is no way to co-op crossplay other than the Windows Store and Xbox versions.



Note the following:



Multiplayer mode requires that all players connected to the game use the same version. The host of the game may experience increased performance issues as a result of their machine having to process many more details. Unlocked progress achievements/rewards aren't shared with those who join the game after it has been completed. The game has to be a friend of everyone who plays it. A single player is allowed to start a game.

Steam Users []



Steam users can't join co-op games only if they are friends on Steam. To invite or join friends it is best to make use of Steam.



Xbox and Windows 10 Crossplay[]



You can invite a friend to your Xbox game by using the Xbox party feature. This feature is available on the Windows Xbox app and Xbox.



When they accept the invitation, it will send them directly to your game. They will be able to determine whether they are connected when they see a small house icon in the world.



PS4[]



PS4 users are able to join games co-op with friends on PS4.



Switch[]



Switch is the most recent platform. It offers both local wireless co-op as well as Internet co-op to Switch friends. Crossplay isn't available on Switch.



Servers dedicatedServers Dedicated



Dedicated Servers are available for those wishing to play with others, but are on different platforms. They are also useful for those who want to play with more than 4 total players. Dedicated servers allow for up to 8 players. There are a myriad of options depending on which platform you choose to play on as well as the platform of your partner.



- Steam and PS4 versions can also rent a dedicated server from Nitrado or Gportal. They can also use self-hosted servers, provided that there is a computer available to host them. - Microsoft versions of the game can only use dedicated servers rented from a Microsoft Preferred provider, currently Nitrado or Gportal. Microsoft does not permit self-hosted servers to be connected. Switch is the only option. Switch does not have a choice as far as dedicated servers. - More information for setting up a self hosted server can be found on Discord in #self-host-talk. - Information on Nitrado and Gportal hosting sites can be found on Discord in #rented-servers-talk. There are also public servers offered through the generosity of a few of our community members and they can be accessed via Discord.


Other players []



On the Official Astroneer Discord server, look through the multiplayer channels on each platform to find other players. After that, you can post a message in the channel, and other players will reply to you via DM, where chat amongst yourself can continue.
