Minecraft: Java edition for LINUX
This should install all dependencies that are required for Debian-based distributions like Ubuntu. If your environment does not have a GUI installer for packages, you can install the package using the terminal like this:
apt-get install Minecraft.deb
On Arch and Arch based distributions the package is available as minecraft-launcher from the AUR. AUR is a repository of packages that are maintained by the community. The Arch Wiki has more information about how to make use of it.

On other distributions you can download raw launcher files as an archive, then extract them somewhere and use them in any way that you find convenient (from the terminal, by creating shortcuts, etc.). You'll need Java and a few dependencies, the majority of which should be present on common Linux desktops.
