vervolgens in een koffiefilter laat trekken, dan kun je die verschillende pigmenten
zien.
Elk pigment heeft andere moleculen (kleine deeltjes). De moleculen van het ene
pigment trekken sneller in het koffiefilter dan de moleculen van het andere
pigment. Daarom ontstaan er bij bruine m&m's verschillende gekleurde lagen:
groen, rood en geel.
Verschillende moleculen verschillen in hoe goed ze oplossen (oplosbaarheid) en
hoe goed ze aan het papier blijven plakken (adhesie). Moleculen die snel in het
papier trekken lossen beter op en blijven minder vastzitten aan het filterpapier.
Moleculen die langzaam in het papier trekken lossen minder goed op en blijven
beter vastzitten aan het filterpapier.
Je kunt dit proefje met verschillende kleuren m&m's doen. Bij blauwe m&m's zie je
maar één blauwe laag, dus deze kleur bestaat maar uit één pigment.
