Hallway and Stairwell Lighting
Light fixtures are available in various types and can be classified according to their efficacy. Lumens, or illuminance levels, determine the visual quality of a surface. High illuminance levels improve visibility and make surfaces appear brighter to the human eye. Incandescent lamps produce light by heating a metal filament and conducting a current through it. This form of lighting is among the least efficient, and therefore is not recommended for all settings.

LED lights also offer superior color rendering and color temperature scale. This is important if you want to use directional signs or informational elements in your space. stairwell lighting between a warm yellow light and a cool, white light can make any space uninviting and uncomfortable. LED lighting gives you the best of both worlds. They use less energy than fluorescent lights and produce consistent, flicker-free light. If you're concerned about the environment of your space, LEDs are the best option.

Hallways and stairwells need light sources that distribute light evenly. Ideally, these light sources are located in the ceiling area above the top two stairs. Avoid placing them at lower levels of the ceiling as this can cause glares. Alternatively, you can install hanging light fixtures over the stairs, instead of using flush mount lights.
