To determine which cards are premium starting hands, I use rankings based on percentages. The percentages found in the figures are the probability the listed hole cards would win if the hand should go to the river at a full table of nine or ten players. The odds of getting Ace-Ace as the hole card and then winning rises from 31% when there are nine opponents to over 15% in heads-up. This dramatic difference is because in ten-handed playing, any of your nine rivals can win the hand. The sum of the statistics for each hand and the sum of them all, at best, is 69%.

The dealer will now "burn" another card on the table and then deal a single card, known as the turn card.
